Our Story: How We Got Started
Like many of you, we loved burning candles and filling our home with wonderful scents. We would buy candles from popular big box stores and burn them all the time. We never gave it a second thought until we started to notice the black soot. It was on our windows, picture frames and even coating the walls of our home. Thinking it had to do with our heating system, we called the furnace company and when they found nothing wrong, we did a little more digging and realized where the soot was coming from... it was from burning the candles! The thought that we had been unknowingly breathing in that soot for so long was unsettling.
Right around that time, COVID hit. Like many of you, we had extra time at home and we got a small candle making kit for fun. The kit came with soy wax and we started to learn about the benefits of soy wax over the paraffin that is used in most traditional candles.
We were immediately drawn to the benefits of 100% natural soy wax. Unlike paraffin, soy wax burns clean, non-toxic, and produces zero petro-carbon soot. This realization created a whole new rhythm in our home—a commitment to a clean, healthier routine. Ultimately, we were making candles for our home because we knew exactly what was in them, and more importantly, what we were NOT breathing in every day!
Rustic Rhythm Candle Co.™ Is Born
What started as a hobby and making a healthier product for our home soon grew. We started making candles as gifts for friends and family, and from there we started venturing out and signing up for local craft shows. We are still a small, hand-poured operation, but we are so happy to be sharing our scents and our solution for a healthier cleaner home with you!
And what does Rustic Rhythm mean? It can mean different things to different people. That is what we like about it. But to give you a clue to where the name came from and what it means to us... look at our logo and you'll see a hint that points to our four-legged rescue who we also only want to breathe healthy air!
