Why Rustic Rhythm Candle Co.™ Candles Are Different
The best candle starts with the cleanest ingredients
Our Clean Wax
We hand-pour every candle using 100% natural soy wax and all-cotton wicks. This clean, renewable alternative provides a superior, long-lasting burn compared to traditional paraffin wax candles.
Our Clean Scents
We only use premium fragrance oils that adhere to a rigorous "Clean Scent" standard. These oils are 100% phthalate-free and developed to eliminate common toxins, giving you peace of mind with every beautiful, strong scent.
Benefits of Natural Soy Wax
Clean Burn: Soy wax is a natural, non-toxic, and biodegradable wax derived from soybean oil. It burns cleaner than paraffin, producing zero petro-carbon soot.
Longer Lasting: Soy wax has a lower melting point, which means it melts slower and provides a significantly longer burn time than a candle of the same size made with paraffin wax.
Excellent Fragrance: The slow, cool burn of soy wax allows the fragrance oils to be released consistently and evenly, resulting in a better, more balanced scent throw.
Sustainable & Renewable: Soybeans are a renewable resource, supporting American farmers and making soy wax an eco-friendly choice.
Easy Cleanup: If you accidentally spill any wax, soy wax is biodegradable and can be easily cleaned from surfaces with just warm, soapy water.
Normal & Natural Characteristics of Soy Wax
Because soy wax is a natural product, it sometimes behaves differently than petroleum-based waxes. These slight imperfections are a badge of honor proving the natural quality of the wax and do not affect the performance or quality of your candle.
"Frosting": You may notice white, crystalline areas forming on the surface or sides. This is called "frosting" and is simply the natural wax re-crystallizing. It is purely cosmetic and does not impact the quality of your burn or the fragrance.
Rough/Uneven Surface After Burning: After the candle cools following a full burn, the surface may look bumpy or uneven. This is a common trait of pure soy wax as it cools and does not impact performance.
How to Care for Your Candle
The Very First Burn is Key
When you light your candle for the first time, allow the wax to melt all the way to the edges of the jar. This is called creating a "full melt pool."
This first burn is critical because wax has a "memory." If you extinguish it too soon, future burns will only melt as far as the first one, leading to "tunneling" (wasting wax left on the sides).
The first burn may take 2 to 3 hours.
Trim Your Wick (Every Time)
Before each time you light your candle, use a wick trimmer or scissors to trim the wick to about 1/4 inch.
We use all-cotton wicks, which sometimes experience "mushrooming" (carbon build-up) after a long burn. Trimming the wick fixes this immediately!
A properly trimmed wick ensures the cleanest burn, the perfect flame size, and the best scent release every time.
Safety First
Never burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
Always burn your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface, and away from drafts, vents, or flammable materials (like curtains).
Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
Stop use when only 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom of the container. Burning past this point can cause the jar to overheat.
